Tropical storm Ketsana ripped through Philippines and left more than 250 people dead and close to half a million displaced.  Several provinces including the capital Manila received a month’s rainfall in a few hours which created severe flooding.

AMURT & AMURTEL volunteers responded within hours by serving hot meals and water as well as distributing clothes to affected people in the Talon and Marikina suburbs of Quezon City in Metro Manila. The operation continues and donations are accepted.

AMURT & AMURTEL’s representatives in Myanmar (Burma) were in Yangon when Cyclone Nargis hit and were able to immediately initiate relief activities. Our distribution of basic food items started within days after the disaster. Currently AMURT & AMURTEL are focusing on building schools and Child-Friendly Spaces as well as building housing for needy families.
