Perhaps the strongest hurricane ever recorded in this part of the Caribbean, Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5, leaving widespread destruction, mudslides, and power outages across the island. With key infrastructure destroyed, supply chains disrupted, and entire regions wiped out with mudslides and flooding, Jamaica faces immediate crises of food, water, shelter, and medical care. AMURT/EL teams are working in hard hit communities, partnering with other NGO’s to replace roofs and provide meals.
Your help will make it possible for those working in the field to provide much needed support and resources. Many thanks to all who have reached out to help.
