Nepal Flood Relief
September, 2026
In Nepal devastating flash floods in August swept away entire villages, with over 3000 dead and thousands still missing. Our AMURTEL teams are working closely with our partner AMURT and other NGOs in bringing desperately needed supplies to those families and communities stranded without even the bare essentials. Following a preliminary needs assessment, AMURT/EL mobilized 16 tons of food and essential relief supplies for the severely affected communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. The work is extremely challenging, as to reach those most in need, supplies must be transported over rubble, washed out roads and traverse boulder fields left behind by the floods. This past week a 28-mile trip to deliver supplies took over 15 hours and required constant clearing of mudslides.
One heart-breaking mission was made to deliver desperately needed food and water to the Nilakantha High school, which is sheltering over 1700 children and adults. Two hundred of these children come from a village that was completely washed away, destroying their homes, crops, belongings, and everything familiar to them. These children survived because they were at school when the flood struck. The family members who remained in the village were caught in the crashing wave of water and many of the children lost one or both parents.
With so much loss and infrastructure destroyed, this will be an ongoing response for our team, and your assistance is be greatly appreciated.
